CA Blackwell - Project team celebrates 200 days without lost time injury

  • 5-10-2015

Blackwell recently played its part in reaching 200 days without lost time injury on the Hemerdon (Drakelands) Mine project - along with client, Wolf Minerals and all project contractors and subcontractors.

During the 200 day period on the project to excavate nearly 45 million tonnes of granite ore and waste rock at the tungsten mine near Plymouth, over 750,000 man hours were worked in total by as many as 500 people during peak times. Safety measures contributing to the scheme's success have included the early identification of risks and the strict implementation of suitable control measures across the site.

Having reached the 200 day milestone on the 5th of August, project stakeholders look forward to continuing their vigilant approach to health and safety management as they work towards zero accidents and incidents on the project.

Blackwell's achievement contributes to the company's excellent track record in health and safety management, which is underlined by its OHSAS 18001 health and safety management certification.
